Chota Nagpur plateau
The Damodar River originates from the Palamau hills in the Chota Nagpur plateau, Jharkhand. It flows southeast through mineral-rich areas of the plateau before entering West Bengal. The river covers a distance of 592 km before joining the Hooghly River. Chota Nagpur plateau is a large plateau region in eastern India, which includes the Ranchi and Ramgarh plateaus. Damodar River is managed by the Damodar Valley Corporation and is known for causing floods in Bengal.
