The Bansloi River originates from Bans Hill in Sahebganj district of Jharkhand. It flows through Pakur district in Jharkhand and then enters Birbhum and Murshidabad districts in West Bengal. The river finally joins the Bhagirathi (Hooghly) River north of Jangipur. The Bansloi has a catchment area of approximately 2,200 sq km. It is part of the Chota Nagpur Plateau region and contributes to seasonal flooding during heavy rainfall.
