Notes: Chandrashekhar Azad died in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) at Alfred Park on 27 February 1931 after being surrounded by British police. The park is now called Chandrashekhar Azad Park in his honor. He shot himself to avoid capture. Allahabad is historically linked to his martyrdom.
