Tilaiya Dam is located in Koderma district, Jharkhand. It was constructed across the Barakar River, a tributary of the Damodar River. The dam was inaugurated on 21 February 1953. It is an earth-fill dam measuring 366 meters in length and 30.18 meters in height. The dam's reservoir covers 36 square kilometers. It serves flood control, irrigation, and has a hydroelectric power capacity of 4 MW. The dam is the first multipurpose dam built by the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC).
