Tikait Umrao Singh, a chieftain from Ranchi district, Jharkhand, was hanged on 8 January 1858. He was a leader in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 against British rule. After his capture, he was sentenced to death on 6 January 1858. The execution took place by hanging on a banyan tree at Chutupalu Ghati in Ramgarh district, Jharkhand.
