The Tata Iron and Steel Company (TISCO) was established on 26 August 1907 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. It was founded by Jamsetji Tata as India's first integrated steel plant. Construction began in 1908, with blast furnace operations starting in 1911 at Sakchi, later renamed Jamshedpur. The first steel production took place in 1912. TISCO was founded with Indian capital of Rs 2,31,75,000 and initiated as a swadeshi enterprise.
