Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) was established on July 7, 1948. The DVC Act (Act No. XIV of 1948) was enacted in March 1948. It operates across West Bengal and Jharkhand for flood control, power generation, and irrigation. The agreement for DVC was between Central, West Bengal, and Bihar governments in April 1947. DVC is India's first multipurpose river valley project after independence.
