Notes: Bihar was separated from Bengal in 1912. The decision was announced by King George V at the Delhi Durbar on 22 March 1912. Formal implementation occurred on 1 April 1912, creating the Bihar and Orissa Province from the Bengal Presidency. Patna became the capital. This followed the annulment of the 1905 Partition of Bengal. Later, in 1936, Bihar and Orissa were divided into separate provinces.
