Notes: The first published work of the Serampore Mission Press was the Bengali New Testament. On 18 March 1800, the first proof sheets of the translation were printed. The printing of 'Matthew' of the New Testament was finished by August. It was published as 'Mangal Samachar'. This is the first book ever printed in Bengali type.
