Notes: World Tourism Day is observed annually on 27 September to highlight tourism’s role in cultural exchange, economic growth, and global connectivity. It is an initiative of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), first celebrated in 1980. The day commemorates the adoption of the UNWTO statutes in 1970. The theme for 2025 is “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”, focusing on tourism’s power to drive positive change. Malaysia is the host of World Tourism Day 2025 and the World Tourism Conference (WTC) in Melaka from 27–29 September.
