Shival ik Hi lls extends to westnorthwestward for more than 1,600 km from the Teesta River in Sikkim state, northeastern India, through Nepal, across northwestern India, and into northern Pakistan. The width of the Shivalik Hills varies from 10 to 50 km and their average elevation is 1,500 to 2,000 m.
