Betla National Park is in Latehar district, Jharkhand, on the Chota Nagpur Plateau. It forms the core of Palamu Tiger Reserve, one of India’s first Tiger Reserves under Project Tiger. The park hosts Bengal tigers along with elephants, leopards, bison, and sloth bears. The name “Betla” stands for Bison, Elephant, Tiger, Leopard, and Axis (chital). The park has tropical forests, grasslands, over 200 bird species, and offers safaris and watchtowers.
