Q. What is a strait?
Answer: A water body separating two land masses
Notes: A narrow piece of land that connects two landmasses is known as an isthmus. Straits are the converse of isthmuses. That is, while a strait lies between two land masses and connects two larger bodies of water, an isthmus lies between two bodies of water and connects two larger land masses. For example, the Palk Strait separates India and Sri Lanka.
