Canada and Greenland
Smith Sound is an Arctic Sea passage located between Ellesmere Island of Canada and Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark. In 1616, William Baffin discovered the sound and named it after the famous promoter of voyages to find a Northwest passage, Sir Thomas Smythe. It links the Baffin Bay with Kane Basin and forms part of the Nares Strait.
