Least distance of distinct vision is the minimum object’s distance that is able to produce a distinct image on the retina. This distance is about 25 cm from the eye. However, it varies with age. For infants, the least distance of distinct vision is about 5 to 8 cm. If the object is held closer to the eye than this distance the image formed will be blurred and fuzzy. The location of the near point, however, change with age.
