The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Narendra Modi, has approved the Kalai-II Hydro Electric Project on the Lohit River in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh. The total investment for the project is ₹14,105.83 crore, with an estimated completion period of 78 months. The project will have an installed capacity of 1200 MW (6 × 190 MW and 1 × 60 MW) and is expected to generate about 4852.95 million units (MU) of electricity annually. It will be the first hydroelectric project in the Lohit Basin, helping in strengthening regional power supply, managing peak demand, and balancing the national grid.
