The Indian Army celebrated Infantry Day (Shaurya Diwas) on October 27, 2025, marking 79 years of courage and sacrifice. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi led the wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial, New Delhi, honoring fallen soldiers. War veterans Major Ashish Sonal, Subedar Major Kunwar Singh, and Lance Naik Amrit, all Vir Chakra awardees, also paid tributes. Infantry Day commemorates October 27, 1947, when Indian Infantry troops first landed in Srinagar to repel Pakistan-backed tribal invaders, defending Jammu and Kashmir and India’s sovereignty.
