The Diego Ramirez Islands, the southern-most inhabited outpost of south America outside Antarctica, is under the control of Chile. It is located in the southern-most extreme of Chile. These islands are surrounded by Cape Horn and Ildefonso Islands. These islands are the important nesting site for black-browed albatross, shy albatross, grey-headed albatross, rockhopper penguin and southern giant petrel.
