Sher Shah Suri, founder of the Sur Empire, defeated Mughal emperor Humayun at the Battle of Chausa on June 26, 1539, and again at Kannauj in 1540, forcing Humayun into exile. He introduced the Rupiya and the Grand Trunk Road, reforming administration and revenue systems until his death in 1545, influencing Mughal governance.
