The Aligarh Movement was an important reform movement of 19th century that was started by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. The movement’s name derives from the fact that its origins lay in the city of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh and with the foundation of the Mohammedan Anglo Oriental Collegiate School in 1875.
