Notes: St. Mary's Islands is also known as the Coconut Island and Thonsepar. They are a set of four small islands located in the Arabian Sea just off the coast of Malpe in Udupi district, Karnataka. These islands are known for their distinctive geological formation of columnar rhyolitic lava. The Columnar rhyolite Lava here forms one of the four geological monuments in the state of Karnataka and one of the 34 National Geological Monuments of India as declared by the Geological Survey of India in the year 2016 for their maintenance, protection, enhancement and promotion of geo tourism. This monument is also considered to be an important site for "Geo Tourism".
