Rashtrapati Bhavan is the official residence of the President of the Government of India. Until the 1950s, it was called the Viceroy's House. Then it used to be the residence of the then Governor-General of India. It is located in the heart of New Delhi. British architect Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens, who was a key member of town planning, was entrusted with the design of the building site. Rashtrapati Bhavan is based on Indo-Saracenic architectural art.
