The Rajmahal Hills are situated in the Santhal Pargana division of Jharkhand. They cover about 2,600 km² from Sahibganj to Dumka districts. The hills have an average elevation of 200–300 meters. The area is historically significant as Rajmahal served as Bengal's capital under Mughal governor Man Singh I in 1595–96. The Sauria Paharia and Santhal tribes inhabit the hills and their valleys respectively.
