Nyokum is a festival of the Nyishi tribe in Arunachal Pradesh. The name comes from "Nyok" (land/earth) and "Kum" (togetherness). It is celebrated by all people for prosperity, happiness, and better productivity. The festival is closely linked to cultivation and agriculture. Nyokum goddess, the goddess of prosperity, is invoked for good harvests. Prayers are offered to prevent famine, drought, floods, and crop destruction. The festival also seeks protection from accidents, war, and epidemics, ensuring strength and regeneration of humanity.
