National Statistics Day is celebrated every year on 29 June. Statistics Day marks the birth anniversary of Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, a pioneer in statistics and economic planning. It aims to spread awareness among youth about the role of statistics in socio-economic planning for national development. The 2025 theme is “75 Years of National Sample Survey” celebrating its role in evidence-based governance.
