Notes: Nalanda University was destroyed by the Military General of Qutb-ud-din-Aibak. Mohammad Bin Bakhtiyar Khilaji was one of the Military Generals of Qutb-ud-din-Aibak who destroyed Nalanda University. He was also named as Malik Ghazi Ikhtiyar ‘I-Din Bakhtiyar Khilji or Muhammad Bakhtiyar Khilji or Bakhtiyar Khilji. During his invasion, many of the Viharas and Universities were sacked and thousands of Buddhist monks were massacred. He established a town known as Bakhtiyarpur. He was assassinated by Ali Mardan and his mausoleum is in Bihar Sharif.
