A drone attack by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) hit a vehicle carrying displaced families near Rahad in North Kordofan. The victims were civilians fleeing violence in the conflict-affected region. The incident highlights the worsening humanitarian crisis and continued violence in Sudan’s ongoing conflict. Kordofan is a large region in central and southern Sudan, lying between Darfur in the west and the White Nile River valley in the east. The northern part is arid desert with sandy soils, sparse vegetation, and thorny shrubs. The southern part has clay plains with the Nuba Mountains rising up to about 900 metres.
