The Jharkhand Plateau, also called the Chota Nagpur Plateau, is the northeastern projection of the Peninsular Plateau. It mainly covers Jharkhand and parts of neighboring states. The plateau has Archaean rocks and elevations around 600-700 meters. It slopes southeast and is distinctly separated from other plateaus by the Damodar trough. Its position within the triangular Peninsular Plateau places it in the eastern sector bounded by the Western Ghats, Eastern Ghats, and northern Vindhyas-Satpuras.
