The Jaduguda Uranium Mine is situated in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. It is India's first uranium mine, discovered in 1950 and commissioned in 1967-68 by Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL). The mine lies about 24 km from Jamshedpur in the Potka Block. Uranium ore is extracted from pre-Cambrian metasedimentary rocks within the Singhbhum shear zone and processed into yellow cake nearby. UCIL operates other mines in East Singhbhum including Narwapahar, Bhatin, and Turamdih.
