The Punpun River originates in Palamu district, Jharkhand, flowing northeast through Bihar districts including Gaya and Patna. It joins the Ganga River at Fatuha, about 25 km downstream of Patna. The Punpun basin covers 8,593 km² and lies between the Sone and Ganga rivers. The river is rain-fed and has several tributaries such as Madar and Mohar. The confluence with the Ganga makes it a significant river in the region.
