International Students’ Day is observed annually on 17 November. It honours the courage and sacrifice of student activists in Prague during Nazi occupation. On 17 November 1939, Nazi forces executed nine student leaders without trial. More than 1,200 students were arrested and sent to concentration camps; only a few survived. The first official observance was in 1941 by the International Students’ Council in London. Students from different nations declared 17 November as a global day for student rights, unity, and resistance against oppression. The day highlights the importance of education and student activism worldwide.
