The Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana was launched on 1 April 2004 in Jharkhand. It was initiated by then Chief Minister Arjun Munda from Saraikela-Kharsawan district. The scheme is implemented by the Social Welfare Department of Jharkhand. It provides financial assistance to economically weaker daughters for marriage expenses. Eligibility includes Jharkhand residency for at least 10 years and specific age and income criteria. The assistance amount is Rs. 30,000 and is non-refundable.
