The world's earliest known ploughed agricultural field, dating back to around 2800 BCE, has been excavated at the Harappan site of Kalibangan located in the Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan, India. This shows the Indus people were among the earliest adopters of organised farming practices like plough-aided soil preparation for higher yield using draft animals, an innovation that transformed crop production in the old world.
