Fourth Five-Year Plan (1969-1974)
The Green Revolution’s high-yielding variety seeds and technologies were extensively adopted in India from 1967-68. Significant increases in wheat and rice production occurred during the Fourth Five-Year Plan (1969-1974). Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh saw the most impact. The government expanded irrigation, fertilizer use, and credit access during this period. Food grain output reached 104.7 million tonnes by 1973-74.
