Khecheopalri Wetland is located in Sikkim, which is the northernmost site. It is known as a wish-fulfilling lake, its tranquil waters are believed to be blessed by Guru Padmasambhava and the Goddess Tara. It is surrounded by lush forests and the mystical aura of ancient legends, this enchanting lake, part of the revered Demazong valley.
Sakkarakottai Bird Sanctuary and Therthangal Bird Sanctuary are in Tamil Nadu. Two bird sanctuaries in Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram district — Sakkarakottai and Therthangal — have been designated as Ramsar sites. With this, the State has 20 Ramsar sites and continues to have the highest number of Ramsar sites in India.
Udhwa Lake is in Jharkhand. Udhwa Lake is named after saint Uddhava of Mahabharat times, a friend of Lord Krishna. The Sanctuary has two water bodies i.e. Patauran (155 ha) and Berhale (410 ha), interconnected by a water channel. Patauran is a comparatively clean water body.
