Hul Divas is celebrated on 30th June every year. It commemorates the Santhal Rebellion of 1855 led by Sidhu and Kanhu Murmu against British colonial rule. The rebellion started in Bhognadih village, Jharkhand. "Hul" means revolution in the Santhali language. On this date, tribals and activists organize cultural programs and tribute ceremonies in Jharkhand and nearby states to honor the leaders' role in India's freedom struggle.
