The broken stone seal or amulet shows a female figure with hair parted in the middle wearing an elaborate dress with bangles. Notably, a growing plant emerges from her womb indicative of fertility cults among Harappans. Scholars speculate she represents Mother Earth. It was discovered from ancient workshops and kilns amidst thousands of seals at Harappa from where the civilization draws its name. Though the Indus Valley religion remains enigmatic, such icons indicate some kind of goddess worship.
