Dingal, also known as Old Western Rajasthani, is an ancient Indo-Aryan poetic language used in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kutch, Malwa, and Sindh. It is linked to Charan literature, war poetry, and is an ancestor of Marwari and Gujarati. Dingal preserves archaic vocabulary and has unique poetic forms like Dingal Gīt. Several historical Dingal dictionaries exist, authored by scholars from Marwar and Jaisalmer.
