Q. Consider the following statements with respect to Babur:
  1. He was a descendent of Timur.
  2. After winning the battles of Panipat and Chanderi, he faced Rana Sanga in the battle of Khanwa.
  3. He wrote his own memoir ‘Tuzuk-i-Babri’.
Which of the above is / are correct?

Answer: Only 1 and 3
Notes: Babur was the 5th direct descendent of Timur, hence he belonged to the Timurid dynasty. In fact, the great Mughals preferred to call themselves Timurids, rather than Mughals. So, statement 1 is correct. After defeating Ibrahim Lodhi in the battle of Panipat and Rana Sanga in the battle of Khanwa, he crushed Medini Rai of Chanderi in Malwa, in the battle of Chanderi. So, statement 2 is incorrect. Tuzuk-i-Babri (Baburanamah) is the autobiography of Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire in India. Babur wrote it in Turkish language; Mughal imperial officer, Abdur Rahim Khan, son of Bairam Khan, translated it into Persian. So, statement 3 is also correct.
