Peninsular Plateau
The Chota Nagpur Plateau is part of the Peninsular Plateau system in eastern India. It mainly lies in Jharkhand and extends into Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar. The plateau is formed of Precambrian rocks over 540 million years old. It covers around 65,000 square kilometers and consists of Ranchi, Hazaribagh, and Kodarma plateaus. The Damodar River valley runs through its center. The region is rich in minerals like coal, mica, copper, and iron ore.
