Bokaro Steel Plant, located in Jharkhand, was established in 1964 with assistance from the Soviet Union (Russia). The plant started operations in 1972 and was merged with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in 1978. It is the fourth integrated public sector steel plant in India and was developed using Soviet technology. Other steel plants in India, like Bhilai, received assistance from different countries such as Britain. There is no record of Canadian or German involvement in Bokaro Steel Plant's establishment.
