Notes: For the supermacy over India, the three wars were fought between the British and the French East India Companies in India, that are populary known as Carnatic wars. Excerpts of the wars are: a) First Carnatic (1744-48) War: French defeated British forces and the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle was signed.   b) Second Carnatic War (1749-54): Robert Clive led British forces defeated Dupleix led French forces and the Treaty of Pondicherry was signed c) Third Carnatic War ( 1757-63): The ambitions of French to create a colonial empire in India vanished and the Treaty of Paris was signed.
