Notes: The state cabinet of Odisha has recently adopted ‘Bande Utklala Janani’ as the state anthem, through video-conferencing. Bande Utkala Janani (Glory to mother Utkala) was written by poet Lakshmikanata Mohapatra and it was first sung at the Utkal Sammilani’s conference at Balasore in 1912. It was a long-standing demand of people of the state to accord state anthem status to the song. After the official recording is released, the song will be sung at all public programmes.
