Notes: University of Newcastle researchers have identified a new species of frog, which has been named Assa wollumbinsp.nov. It was found in the Wollumbin National Park, Australia. The frog is one of the two known species to store tadpoles on their bodies. It is found to be genetically different from another pouched frog Assa darlingtoni. There are only four of the 4000 species where the male carries its developing tadpoles.
