Treaty of Alinagar
The Treaty of Alinagar was signed on February 9, 1757, between Siraj-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Bengal, and Robert Clive of the British East India Company. The treaty, named after the temporary title given to Calcutta by the Nawab, marked an important precursor to the Battle of Plassey. Under its terms, the Nawab agreed to a number of demands, including the restoration of the Company's factories and exemption of all British goods from duties in Bengal.
