What is Dormant Volcano?

A volcano that has not erupted in historic times, but is not thought to be extinct. Dormant volcanoes include those which have not erupted in the past 10,000 years. For example most of the volcanoes in the Cascade and Andes mountains are Dormant Volcanoes.
