Kaveri has a sufficient flow of water throughout the year

Unlike most of the peninsular rivers Kaveri has a sufficient flow of water throughout the year. What are the reasons for the same ?

Most  of the peninsular rivers originate in the Western Ghats . Their watershed receives water only during the South West monsoons . Hence unlike the Himalayan rivers, they remain dry or transform into narrow streams during other seasons.
Unlike these rivers the lower reaches of Kaveri receive rainfall even during winter .This is because the lower reaches of Kaveri fall in the path of moisture rich North East Monsoon winds.Hence Kaveri is a Perennial river.
