Universal Elements of Proper Ethics

Ethics refers to morals and beliefs an individual or community. Growth of ethics can be seen beyond national boundaries and various cultures. There are few important key elements of ethics practiced universally.

Personal Responsibility

Taking full responsibility for our decisions and actions is the right thing to do. One should perform duties with honesty, care, diligence, professionalism, impartiality and integrity. A person with high moral standard treats others and public with respect and courtesy.

Caring and sharing

Caring is a process which shows the interest and support for others with fairness and impartiality. It is a feeling for others and environment around us. It includes showing respect to the feelings of others, and also respecting and preserving others concerned interest. It influences sharing, means transferring the knowledge, experience and commodities that are legal and genuine. Through this voluntary action experience, expertise, wisdom and other benefits reach more people faster.

Honesty

Truth and trust makes honesty complete. The former is to face the responsibilities upon telling truth. But trustworthiness is maintaining integrity and taking responsibility for personal performance. Trust is built through reliability and authenticity. Dishonest actions are lying, not seeking the truth, withholding information etc.

Self-confidence

It is a positive thought about one-self. They have courage and unshakable faith in their ability and not influenced by threats or challenges. They respect others effect and give the credit.

Living Peacefully

Peace from within is an important criteria to live peacefully. Charity begins at home. Pure thoughts and beauty in one’s heart should be nurtured to live peacefully.

Commitment

Commitment means alignment to goals and adherence to ethical principles during the activities. It is a driving force to success and required for any profession in an individual’s life.

Empathy

Sensing what others feel about, without open talk, is empathy. It begins with concern, and then obtaining and understanding the feelings of others. It is also the ability to put one’s self into the point of view of another, to know how the other person feels. This is an essential for good human relations and transactions.
