Kisan credit cards given to 8,400 fishermen so far in the country, says government

On 21 Nov, the government said that it has distributed Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to only 8,400   fishermen in the country so far. In order to boost the fishery sector, the government has drafted the National Marine Fisheries (Regulation and Management) Bill 2019 to prevent diseases in fish. The Bill is still waiting Cabinet approval.

To meet working capital requirements of the animal husbandry fishermen and farmers ,the government has extended the Kisan Credit Card(KCC) facility . However, not enough cards could be distributed due to lack of awareness and delay in issuing RBI guidelines for implementation of this facility.
