Aptitude Question ID : 93207

A student multiplied a number by $latex \frac{3}{5}&s=1$ instead of $latex \frac{5}{3}&s=1$. What is the percentage error in the calculation?
[A]54%
[B]64%
[C]44%
[D]34%

64%
Let x be the multiplicand.
$latex \therefore Error = \frac{5}{3}x – \frac{3}{5}x&s=1$
$latex = \frac{25x – 9x}{15} = \frac{16x}{15}&s=1$
∴ Percentage Error =
$latex = \frac{\frac{16x}{15}}{\frac{5x}{3}}\times 100&s=1$
$latex = \frac{16x}{15}\times \frac{3}{5x}\times 100 = 64\%&s=1$
Hence option [B] is the correct answer.
